Everyone says game development takes months, big teams, and heavy investment. I decided to test that belief with a simple experiment: create a small game, upload it for free, and still earn money from it.
Not on Google Play. Not with paid ads upfront. Completely free.

The idea was simple. Instead of wasting weeks on a complex game, I focused on earning strategy, not game quality. I used Quick App Ninja, a platform where you can create a basic Android game in minutes. I chose a “Guess the Picture” concept because it’s fast to build and easy for anyone to play.

The process was smooth at first—add images, write a question, add the answer, repeat. Then reality hit: the game wouldn’t generate unless it had at least 20 levels. I fixed that quickly. But the real challenge wasn’t game creation. The real challenge was how to make money when nobody knows you.

Free Game, Real Earnings: The Strategy Nobody Talks About

Instead of relying on people to buy my game, I uploaded it to itch.io, one of the best free game publishing platforms. Here’s the key: itch.io lets you upload games without paying anything and gives you full control over pricing—paid, donation-based, or completely free.

I chose free download.

Why? Because the real money isn’t in selling the game—it’s in advertising revenue. I connected the game with Google AdMob, enabled banner ads and rewarded ads, and integrated everything directly inside the game using Quick App Ninja’s monetization tools.

Now the logic is simple:

  • Users download the game for free

  • Ads run inside the game

  • Every ad impression earns money automatically

No price barrier. No trust issue. No brand name needed.

At first, downloads were zero. So I shared the game with friends. Slowly, ad requests started appearing. Even when earnings showed $0, the ad activity proved the system works. More downloads = more ads = more dollars.

This method works even if your game is average. You don’t need a viral hit. You just need downloads, traffic, and ads. Promotion can be done for free or paid—it’s your choice.

I started with zero experience, zero budget, and a simple idea. The game is live, ads are running, and the earning process has started.

Now excuse me while I plan my future: a bungalow, a swimming pool, waterproof fish, and a gaming room full of RGB lights 😄
